Events
Being able to connect with other children that have experienced loss is the most important reason for BYV’s existence. Through our events, we aim to create a safe and fun environment for our youth and their families to bond with each other and find solace in their shared loss. Our team understands the importance of connection during times of grief, which is why we organize various events throughout the year.
One of our most beloved events is the Bear Hug Bash. This event allows children to build a bear in honor of their late parent, providing them with a physical reminder of their loved one’s presence and comfort in times of need.
We also host Period Parties, aimed at creating an open space for girls who have lost their mothers to connect with father figures or male guardians. These parties provide an opportunity for dads to engage in “girl talk” with their daughters under guidance from our trained professionals.
At BYV, we understand the crucial role that education plays in a child’s development and future success. That’s why as a nonprofit organization, we strive to provide our students with the necessary tools and resources to excel in their academic journeys.
One of the ways we do this is by hosting our annual Back-to-School event. This event is dedicated to ensuring that each child in our program has all the essential supplies needed for the upcoming school year. Our team shops for each child’s specific school supply list, taking into account their unique educational needs.
In addition to school supplies, we also provide each child with a new pair of shoes of their choosing. We believe that having comfortable and appropriate footwear not only enhances a child’s self-confidence but also ensures they are physically ready for the demands of the school day.
Our Back-to-School event is not just about providing tangible items; it is about empowering our children and setting them up for success in their education. We want them to feel excited, prepared, and confident on their first day of school and beyond.
Through this event, we aim to alleviate some financial burdens for families who may struggle to afford these back-to-school essentials. It also allows us to cultivate a sense of community and support among our students and their families and gives our children an opp0rtunity to connect before going back to school.
